
Broken Heat Lamp! Any help? - Tortoise Forum
Dec 19, 2015 · This morning I awoke to see the UVB lamp and heat lamp (which are both on timers, 8.30am-8.30pm) and did my daily scan to see how Otis was doing. This was interrupted when I realised her UVB lamp was on as normal, but the heat lamp off. After inspection, I saw the bulb was blew. It's an 60w ProRep spot lamp.

Jun 24, 2013 · The temperature underneath, to some extent, depends on the ambient surrounding temperature around it. It's not an exact Science. 100 Watt is a good starting point. For basking it only needs to be a standard household spot lamp which is cheaper than the ones the reptile shops sell. Why 92F? What will be basking under this lamp?

Wattage largely depends on the size of the enclosure and the height of which the lamp fixture is hung at. The larger the diameter of the lamp fixture, the more distance light and heat can reach and cover.

You'd only need day heat for a temperate species like Testudo or DT. Light. I use LEDs for this purpose. Something in the 5000-6500K color range will look the best.

I forgot I took pics of the beardie girls' lamp stand set-up. Here it is... (the clamp lamp on the side is for extra heat because a 100 watt MVB doesn't get hot enough for the beardies.
