It isn’t often — or ever — that PGA Tour players compete on the same course twice in the same year, let alone in 26 days

When questions were being asked on Tuesday of Jason Day about a potential move of the PGA Tour’s fire-affected Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines, a media official interjected that no official decision had been made about where the tournament will be played in mid-February.

The tournament, scheduled for Feb. 13-16, is being moved from Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades because of this month’s wildfires and resulting damage.

On a windy but beautiful Tuesday afternoon, overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Torrey Pines Golf Course, pro golfers expressed joy and delight on the eve of the Farmers Insurance Open.

The current state and stature of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, and whether its appeal to players and fans has taken a hit in the post-Tiger Woods era that has seen significant changes in the pro golf landscape.

The tournament was scheduled to take place from Feb. 13 to 16 at The Riviera Country Club, which is in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

In a normal year, Torrey Pines hosts just one PGA Tour event, but due to the recent fires in Los Angeles that could be changing.

The PGA Tour is moving the Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines, the site of this week's Farmers Insurance Open, according to a Golfweek report.
