Part of a pedestrian bridge across the Seward Highway near South Anchorage's Rabbit Creek Elementary School and DeArmoun Road collapsed onto the highway early Sunday, closing both lanes of the highway for a time.

The largest populated city in Alaska is still recovering from the hurricane-force winds that battered homes and infrastructure on Sunday, leaving thousands without power and causing significant damage.

Anchorage, Alaska was hit by hurricane-force winds on January 12, with wind speeds reaching as high as 132mph in some areas. Multiple small planes at Merrill Field Airport were flipped over, powerlines and trees came down and a pedestrian bridge partially collapsed onto a highway.
