South Korea will release by Monday a preliminary report on last month's Jeju Air plane crash that killed 179 people, the deadliest air disaster on the nation's soil, the transport ministry said on Saturday.

The authorities wrapped up search and recovery efforts for victims as well as on-site investigation procedures of the Jeju Air crash with consent from the bereaved families.

South Korea will extend runway safety areas and redesign infrastructure after the crash of a Jeju Air Co. flight last month that killed almost everyone on board, sparking criticism that the design of the airport might have exacerbated the accident.
