Ten years after being laid off from Disney, Leo Perrero still views a visa program for skilled international workers as deeply flawed, blaming it for disrupting his information technology career and putting him in the unsettling position of having to train his foreign replacement.

H-1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows employers to hire skilled workers from foreign countries to work in the US on a temporary basis. Most tech companies in the US have employed engineers from countries like India who are on H-1B visas.

Trump stated that he supported H1-B visas for “competent” people not only in the tech industry but also for other jobs such as “high-quality waiters”
