France will launch a six-year renovation of the Louvre in Paris, enlarging the world's most-visited museum to make room for the huge crowds who now cram inside the palace on the banks of the Seine, President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the renovation will include a new entrance near the Seine and underground rooms. There will also be a dedicated room for 'Mona Lisa.'

The announcement comes after the Louvre Museum director revealed the dire state of the famous Parisian arts gallery last week. View on euronews
