Cutting off electricity supplies to Gaza and discussing stopping water supplies are "unacceptable and incompatible with Israel's obligations under international law," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kathrin Deschauer told journalists in Berlin.

Israel justified the ban by claiming that a "significant" portion of UNRWA employees are terrorists, after accusing 12 of its members for having ties to Hamas. A UN investigation was "not able to independently authenticate information used by Israel to support the allegations.

Germany called on Israel to resume humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, terming the cutting of electricity supplies and a threat to cut off water as unacceptable and not in line with Israel's obligations under international law.
