A Michigan man faces charges after leading police on a pursuit that escalated to a shooting near the state line Monday. Around 5 p.m., a driver was accused of failing to stop for a deputy, according to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.

A police chase in Branch County led to an officer-involved shooting and the later arrest of a suspect in Indiana.

At around 5 p.m., the suspect driver failed to stop for a deputy from the Branch County Sheriff's Office, which initiated a chase. The pursuit began on Central Road and halted at the intersection of Kelley Road and State Line Road when the vehicle left the roadway.

A suspect who led sheriff's deputies on a pursuit through rural southern Michigan was able to escape despite being shot. Hour later police in Indiana arrested him.
