Since its inception, Meta’s Threads has tried to leverage the network effects of its other social networks Facebook and Instagram by experimenting with cross-posting and highlighting Threads posts on a carousel.

Threads, the service that was born to take on X, could receive a feature that would boost its social options. Many similar platforms offer groups as one of their main features. Now, new findings suggest that Threads will receive support for community groups in the future.

The feature is known as Loop, and one developer who spotted the reference said that it might be similar to the Communities feature on X, or subreddits … Alessandro Paluzzi first found the feature. Chris Messina appears to have independently spotted it.

Meta’s take on a Twitter/X rival, Instagram Threads, may be inching further into its competitor’s territory with the development of a communities feature that would presumably allow users to better organize their discussions on the platform by topics.
