Palestinian journalists like Hossam Shabat and Anas Al-Sharif shared videos of themselves emotionally reuniting with friends and family who were forcibly displaced by Israeli forces. Journalist Muhammad Shehada said that the return to north Gaza was “Gaza’s Berlin Wall moment.”

Hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians returning to their homes in northern Gaza have passed through checkpoints in a central zone of the enclave where scanners check for concealed weapons being taken in cars and vehicles.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians are travelling back to the devastated neighborhoods of northern Gaza after being displaced during the Israel-Hamas war, as a fragile 42-day ceasefire moves into a second week.

Masses of displaced Palestinians began streaming towards the north of the war-battered Gaza Strip on Monday after Israel and Hamas said they had reached a deal for the release of another six hostages.
