Bitterly cold temperatures are forecast across Indiana from 7 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to a cold weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service. By Monday, the daily high is expected to drop near 10 degrees, with wind chill indexes cold enough to cause frostbite on exposed skin within just 30 minutes.

Georgia, the Piedmont and WNC, and Upstate South Carolina warned of "very cold wind chills as low as 7 below expected." The warning will be active from 7 p.m. Tuesday to noon on Wednesday, Jan. 22. NWS representatives told the Citizen Times what hazards go along with these forecasts.

CHICAGO — National Weather Service officials issued a cold weather advisory in effect until 2 p.m. Tuesday for portions of central, east central and northeast Illinois as well as northwest Indiana. Officials said dangerously cold wind chills may reach as low as 28 below zero causing frostbite to those exposed to the frigid temperatures in as little as 30 minutes.
