The backdrop of this whole conversation surrounding the depth chart is the fact that quarterback Sam Darnold struggled mightily last weekend when the Vikings suffered a 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions. He only completed 18 of 41 passes for 166 yards and he did not throw a touchdown.

The Minnesota Vikings are considering a significant shake-up to their quarterback depth chart, one that would put newcomer Daniel Jones in position to play if starter Sam Darnold is injured or ineffective in the playoffs.

Jones signed to the Vikings’ practice squad shortly after he had been released by the Giants earlier this season.

The Minnesota Vikings announced they have signed QB Brett Rypien to the practice squad. Additionally, the Vikings have signed OL Trevor Reid to a futures contract.
