On March 11, the Cboe BZX Exchange filed a proposal with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to permit Fidelity’s spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) to stake its ether holdings.

Nate Geraci, President of the ETF Store, has previously predicted that US spot Ethereum ETFs have the potential to surpass Bitcoin ETFs if the SEC allows issuers to stake their holdings. Ethereum ETFs posted a fourth consecutive day of negative flows on Monday, recording $37.50 million in outflows.

Cboe seeks SEC approval to enable staking in Fidelity Ethereum ETF, a move that could redefine crypto ETFs and investor returns.

Cboe’s proposed rule change would allow Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH) to “stake, or cause to be staked, all or a portion of the Trust’s ether through one or more trusted staking providers,” the filing said.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on March 11 to enable staking for the Fidelity Ethereum ETF. The firm said the initiative aims to allow the fund to stake its Ethereum holdings and enhance returns for investors.
