Rescue teams are continuing their search for survivors of a passenger plane that crashed into a river in Washington DC following a mid-air collision with a US Army helicopter. The American Airlines flight was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members when it crashed into a Black Hawk helicopter on Wednesday night.

Despite local media reports initially claiming four people had been found alive, DC's fire chief has told the press: "We don't know if there are survivors, but we are working on it."
